5 Snacks for Kids to Enjoy

Getting kids to eat healthily can really be a task. Add to this their constant hunger pangs and cravings for snacks. Most kids usually reach out for unhealthy foods to munch on – chips, fries, pretzels, you know the deal. Although these foods may curb their hunger pangs, they are not good in the longer run. Here are some healthy snacks that kids will enjoy.

  1. Roasted chickpeas
Your kids need something to munch on? Roast some chickpeas quickly at home. To add some extra flavors, add some dried or fresh herbs, or drizzle some lemon juice. Roasted chickpeas make for wholesome and delicious healthy snacks that kids will enjoy. Moreover, these are rich in antioxidants, proteins, and fibers. Chickpeas are one of the most nutritious snacks for kids. What’s more, is that a snack of roasted chickpeas is low on sodium as well.
  2. Popcorn
Everyone’s favorite food at the movies is popcorn. While this may give popcorn a bad rep, it is not necessarily an unhealthy snacking option. It is a misconception that popcorn is unhealthy. The packaged version that is spiced, buttered, and salted is bad for health. Popcorn is basically made from whole corn. When made at home, it can be the ultimate healthy snack that kids will surely love. Keep aside the salt and butter, and add some olive oil to give a dash of flavor.
  3. Yogurt
Nothing gets better than yogurt when it comes to nutritious snacks. The creamy, delectable taste combines perfectly with any fruit and a dollop of honey. Strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, and grapes go perfectly well with yogurt. Moreover, the combination of berries makes this snack really colorful, which kids will surely love. Yogurt makes for a healthy dessert too! It is rich in protein as well as calcium. Moreover, it is known to be the best probiotic food that takes care of gut health. Yogurt made at home is always better than the store-bought packaged ones.
  4. Fruits with peanut butter
Sliced fruits with peanut butter can be a really fun way to avoid hunger pangs. Slice an apple or a pear. Spread some peanut butter, and your easy healthy snack is ready. You can also put the peanut butter in a small bowl as a dip. This is quite a fun way to curb those mid-day cravings while loading up on some essential vitamins and antioxidants.
  5. Veggie pita pockets
This is another easy and healthy snack that kids will enjoy. Getting kids to eat essential veggies may be challenging, but it can be an enjoyable experience if you put them in pita pockets. Just spread some homemade hummus over a pita pocket made of whole wheat. Slice up some raw carrots, cucumber, bell peppers, and lettuce, and fill up the bread.
